Previewing the Broken
Posted on Wednesday Aug 30, 2017 at 06:27pm in The Broken
As the release of The Broken gathers speed, it is time to share some more photos of the upcoming models with you. All of these can be built using our plastic kit. The kit will allow three different units or an HQ model to be assembled from it, so the 4 sprues that make up the kit will be a solid foundation of any Broken force.
Keep your eyes on the comm guild blog, our facebook page, or make sure your email address is registered at http://www.maelstromsedge.com to be notified when the Broken go on sale in Sep 2017.
Friday Photo - An Evil Looking Kaddar Nova
Posted on Friday Nov 04, 2016 at 05:00pm in Models
We've shared a few of our red Karist forces now, but this is the first showing of the very evil looking Kaddar Nova. The withered, blackened flesh lends itself well to a commander who has spent decades exposing themselves to deadly volumes of na-cybel radiation, ready for their ascendance. The colour scheme on this model just makes every little detail of the plastics pop so nicely in our opinion!
Community Spotlight: Epirians on Guard
Posted on Wednesday Nov 02, 2016 at 05:00pm in The Epirian Foundation
Sgt Oddball's Epirians make an appearance once again, this time around a small structure he has built. The striking use of bright colour really helps the Epirians to stand out against the cool greys and metallics of the building.

Friday Photo - Official Epirian Firefly Drone Colourscheme
Posted on Friday Oct 28, 2016 at 05:00pm in Models
This firefly shows our box art colourscheme in crisp, clear colour. Equipped with dual DCLS weapons, a squadron of firefly drones can really add some major tactical flexibility to your Epirian force.
Community Spotlight: Panic's Doom Marines
Posted on Wednesday Oct 26, 2016 at 05:00pm in The Epirian Foundation
The flexibility of having a plastic model range is really shown with the ease of head-swaps that can be done. This excellent example by Panic is part of his Doom force, which is a valid Epirian army, themed around the classic first person shooter videogame 'Doom'. The right colourscheme and a simple head swap really changes the feel of the model. We'll be sharing a lot more of Panic's amazing work in the future!

Friday Photo - Crazy Hunter Firepower
Posted on Friday Oct 21, 2016 at 05:00pm in Models
When you really need to put down some large Broken infantry units, few things are more effective than a Hunter equipped with two sets of suppressor dual machine guns and two cluster missile pods.

Community Spotlight: TP^DC Deputy Manager's Angel Minnow
Posted on Wednesday Oct 19, 2016 at 05:00pm in The Karist Enclave
We've previously covered TP^DC Deputy Manager's excellent mature Angel, and this minnow complements it very well, with a similar basing scheme and colourscheme. The monochromatic base really helps draw the eye to the purple and pink in the minnow.

Friday Photo - The Big Red Beast
Posted on Friday Oct 14, 2016 at 05:00pm in Models
This striking Angel colourscheme is part of our red studio army by Lil'Legend Studios. The contrast makes it quite difficult to photograph effectively, but the sinister undertones can't be missed. Definitely not a creature you'd like to find tearing through the hull of your vehicle.
Community Spotlight: Zambro's Desert Epirians
Posted on Wednesday Oct 12, 2016 at 05:00pm in The Epirian Foundation
What is it about Ochre that looks so good on models? This Epirian Hunter by Zambro at Dakka has a great finish and a nice use of contrasting colours that really make the model pop.

Friday Photo - Epirian Handler Looking Badass
Posted on Friday Oct 07, 2016 at 05:00pm in Models
With most of our models generally shown from the front, it is easy to miss the crazy amounts of detail on all sides. This shot of one of our studio Epirian Handlers shows just how much detail these plastic models can have!
Community Spotlight: Epirian Objective
Posted on Wednesday Oct 05, 2016 at 05:00pm in The Epirian Foundation
The Maelstrom's Edge box set comes with two cardboard objectives for the Karist and Epirian forces. The above shows a lovely physical model based on the Epirian Objective by Sgt Oddball over at Dakka.

Friday Photo - Muted Epirian Contractors
Posted on Friday Sep 30, 2016 at 05:00pm in The Epirian Foundation
Most of our Epirian colour schemes use metallic plating on the shoulderpads, but to many people, the 'blocky' effect is a bit too much. This one from Golem painting, went with a much more muted colour scheme to great effect. We've got an entire army painted up in these colours and will share more pictures of them here on fridays.

Terrain Thursday: Strategic Outpost
Posted on Thursday Sep 29, 2016 at 05:00pm in Models
We have quite a few pieces of terrain in our studio collection now. One of our absolute favourites is the strategic outpost.
The upper floor's windows are transparent plastic, and not visible in the photos is a cool staircase leading to the upper floor.
This building was primarily made out of foamcore, thin plasticard and normal card, and the Maelstrom's Edge terrain sprue.

Friday Photo - Light Blue Epirian Scheme
Posted on Friday Sep 23, 2016 at 05:00pm in Models
This week's photo is of a nice, light blue colourscheme for the Epirians. A lot brighter and less military drab than most of our other palettes, this scheme uses a classic blue/orange colour combo to good effect. The model has also been assembled with stuff underfoot, changing the default pose of the Epirian Contractor.
We don't have any robots painted up in this colourscheme yet, but would love to see some if anyone out there wants to have a go!
